The Well Living Lab is seeking an experienced Behavioral Research Scientist to conduct original research on the effects of the built environment on human health and well-being. The Behavioral Research Scientist will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, technology staff, operations staff, scientific experts, and industry partners.


The Well Living Lab is seeking candidates with a strong research background and a deep knowledge of relevant scientific literature and methodology to conduct research at the lab, evaluate and develop behavioral measures, and consult with academic and industry partners. Activities and responsibilities include:

  • Conducting quantitative and qualitative research to test the effects of the built environment on people’s behavior, health and well-being
  • Analyzing behavioral data and interpreting findings
  • Writing project proposals, study protocols, reports, journal manuscripts, and summaries of project findings
  • Presenting lab research to academic and industry audiences
  • Consulting with industry partners to apply scientific findings and to design applied research projects
  • Serving as the subject matter expert on behavioral science literature and techniques
  • Staying up-to-date on the latest developments in behavioral science and relevant fields
  • Coordinating and leading any activities required to meet the needs of the lab 

Candidate Profile & Prerequisites:

  • PhD in Health, Cognitive, Clinical, Environmental, Organizational Psychology, or a related field
  • A strong research background, including broad knowledge of several of the following topics, and advanced knowledge in at least one of the following:

          - Environmental effects on behavior

          - Health behaviors

          - Cognitive performance and productivity

          - Sleep

          - Stress and resiliency

          - Mood

          - Habit formation

          - Ergonomics and comfort

          - Genetics and behavior

  • Strong skills developing and leading research projects
  • Experience in designing and conducting subject studies
  • Experience conducting a variety of statistical analyses
  • Demonstrated record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at conferences
  • Interest in the state-of-the-art technology and devices related to human behavior, health and well-being.
  • Experience in selecting, testing, or developing such tools to support study design and operation
  • Genuine interest in understanding how the environment can improve health and well-being
  • A positive attitude, open mind, and a desire to collaborate with and learn from a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated interpersonal flexibility and resiliency in conflict resolution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of organizations and with external audiences
  • High level organizational and project management skills to handle multiple concurrent projects
  • Ability to lead a project team of various skills levels and different backgrounds

Compensation:  Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with prior experience.  A comprehensive benefits package is included for full-time employees.
